V12.0 PATCH NOTES
V12.0 PATCH NOTES
Get ready to jump into Rift Nations: Ascension. The first season of Rift Nations! Decades after the events of Krill Nations: New Horizon, a mysterious rift reorganized the planet of Athena. With it, a whole new experience. Check out an altered and reset world, sail the seas with ships, tear down your enemies with muskets and pistols, and wear your crown in style.
πΊ ATHENA 2.0
The rift completely reorganized Athena. Check out new and improved trees, foliage, cliffs, and smoother generation with the power of Riftonic, our custom version of Tectonic.
The Maple Forest is also here to stay β now with improved visuals.
Strongholds are nowhere to be found on the map, meaning the end dimension is disabled on Rift Nations. Instead, try to prioritize expanding your nations!
π― VISUAL ENHANCEMENTS
The rift didn't just reorganize Athena, it also reorganized some textures. Some textures from Krill Nations: New Horizon are here to stay, while some textures have been entirely overhauled to fit a new style.
Stack two slabs on top of each other for a custom block. Not all slabs are supported. Alternatively, build out of new walls, including all new Spruce Wood Walls and Birch Wood Walls. Don't worry, the Oak Wood Walls and Coarse Dirt Slabs are here to stay as well!
Not only that, but some mobs now have a completely new appearance. Check out new models and textures for the Blaze, Breeze, Cave Spider, Cow, Endermite, Silverfish, Skeleton, Spider, Stray, and Wither Skeleton.
β¨ AMBIENCE ENGINE
Completely new to Rift Nations is our custom Ambience Engine. Still in its early stages, we are experimenting with custom ambience never seen before with just a resource pack.
Ambient Fog from Krill Nations: New Horizon is here to stay, and is now improved. Fog will now pull forward and decrease your visibility at sunrise and sunset and during rain and thunderstorms.
Not only that β but we are rapidly developing our own particle system. Check out Flower Dust, which shows colorful dust fluttering off of flowers, Glowing Particles, which currently include particles arising from Lava and Sculk, and our personal favorite β Wind Affected Smoke, which now blows away from your chimneys during windy rain and thunderstorms.
π¦ PORTABLE STORAGE
Portable storage is here to stay. Craft a Wooden Crate, Iron Crate, or Cardboard Box for your journey. Replacing shulker boxes, these easy storage methods will make building and resource collecting a breeze, especially early game!
πͺ GLIDERS
Because the end is disabled, there has to be a replacement for the elytra. Gliders are our replacement. Gliders can be crafted very simply, but cannot be enchanted with unbreaking, and cannot be traditionally boosted with firework rockets. They are β well β just a glider.
π« WEAPONS
Returning and replacing the crossbow is the Musket β an old-style weapon built to pack a punch. Because it replaces a crossbow, crossbow enchantments apply to the musket.
Similarly, and new to Rift Nations, is the Pistol β a functionally semi-automatic version of the musket built to last. Be weary though, pistols consume a TON of arrows!
Arrows themselves have been retextured to be bullets, however, they still appear as arrows in the inventory. This is to avoid confusion with the regular bow.
β΅ SHIPS
New to Rift Nations are Ships! Ships replace boats, and come in every wood variant. They are much more expensive to craft, but much more awesome to look at. They don't function any differently to a regular boat, but can be used as an awesome decoration for a dock or just to sail and trade between nations with.
π COSMETICS
Rift Nations will be adding tons of cosmetics to spice up the look of your character! Currently, cosmetics include the Baseball Cap, Crown, Santa Hat, and Witch Hat.
All of these cosmetics are craftable in survival and more cosmetics outside of just hats will be added in the future!
π DEEP DARK PICKAXE
The most iconic custom item from Krill Nations, a pickaxe that has been destroyed and returned time and time again, sees the cold light of day once more. The Deep Dark Pickaxe is an exclusive custom item, meaning there is only one across the entire world.
The Deep Dark Pickaxe is a netherite pickaxe from the homeworld of the warden. It instamines any block mineable with a pickaxe, besides obsidian. It is the only pickaxe able to instamine deepslate.
Similarly to the Sword of the Grid in Krill Nations: Do or Die, the Deep Dark Pickaxe is currently hidden on a random spot across the world of Athena. Can you find it?
π¦ PROP ENGINE
Alongside our ambience engine, we've also been developing a Prop Engine. Props are fully custom blocks that are purely visual, and don't function as a regular block. Currently, props are only available in creative mode and most likely won't be used outside of events due to their technical limitations.
With that being said, current props include the Bench and the Directional Light. The bench is a work in progress, and we are working on adding the ability to sit on it. The directional light casts a visible light from a source block, as seen on the lamp post below.
πββοΈ MOVEMENT ABILITIES
Have you ever gotten tired of the boring walking, running, swimming, and crawling of vanilla Minecraft? No worries. We're here to change that. You can now Sit anywhere by doing /sit, Lay anywhere by doing /lay, crawl anywhere by doing /crawl, or right click a player to Hitch a Ride on top of their head.
π¨ CUSTOM PAINTINGS
Do you want to add a custom image to the world of Athena? Look no further than Custom Paintings. Currently, custom paintings work how they always have. If you want a custom painting, you have to contact Syprus to place it. However, we have begun working on a system to allow you to place them yourselves. This system should be ready in the coming weeks.
π§ PROXIMITY CHAT
Rift Nations has Proximity Chat support. Simply download the Simple Voice Chat mod, and talk to your friends in the very world of Athena! Set up private group chats and explore the world together, as it should be.
π· INVISIBLE ITEM FRAMES
Have you ever wanted invisible item frames in survival? Well, so did we. Invisible Item Frames can be toggled on and off by shift + right clicking an item frame with an empty hand. This also locks the rotation of the item frame.
Some custom modeled items display on the ground when placed in an item frame. This makes it so that you can have mini decorations using invisible item frames.
I heard somewhere that there were "drugs" in Rift Nations? Not entirely sure what that meantβ¦ I cant seem the find anything in the patch notesβ¦ weird π€
